Incredible Shunting on 12v DC! - Dib's Shunting Yard

Dib's Shunting Yard is well known on both YouTube and Instagram, so when I had the chance to see it in person at the Chatham Model Railway Show in 2025 I couldn't resist filming it for quite a while. I'm always a sucker for industrial yards, operated by a fleet a small locos and so this layout didn't disappoint.

But what impressed me most of all was the operation. While other layouts might fall back on DCC control, Dib's Shunting Yard shows that intricate and smooth shunting can absolutely still be carried out using tradition 12v DC analog control.

Not only that but this model railway also features some intricate mechanisms for uncoupling wagons and switching points too. This makes the whole experience incredibly seamless and it's a joy to sit back and simply watch the trains go about their business.
